Tandem flights are an incredible way to soar with the birds and experience paragliding. Vision Paragliding offers instructional tandem flights from Woodrat Mountain. No prior experience is necessary for a tandem flight, or a 1 or 2 Day Intro Lesson.

Woodrat Mountain Tandem

The Siskiyou Mountains offer amazing paragliding opportunities. We fly from Woodrat Mountain, which is located in the Applegate Valley 10 minutes SW of Jacksonville on HWY 238. We launch at 3500 ft, and fly above the landscape gaining a true birds eye view of the world below.

Tandem paragliding flights can be enjoyed by anyone under 260 pounds and of any age, with no prior experience necessary. Minors need to be accompanied by an adult.

The passenger sits in front of the pilot, and each person has their own harness. Launching involves a running a few steps together before becoming airborne. In the air we sit back and experience what it’s like to be a bird.

Flights last at least 20 minutes, often longer depending on thermal conditions. The temperature in the air is much cooler than on the ground, so dress warmer than you think necessary. Ask us about expected temperatures, as well as the possibility of landing at one of the local wineries.

The following are recommended:

• Athletic or hiking shoes/boots – no sandals
• Pants or jeans
• Warm clothing layers and a jacket
• Gloves
• Sun glasses and sunscreen
• Compact camera

Our Competition Flying Clinic focuses on racing & flying efficiently. The Competition Clinic not only helps pilots refine racing skills, but also to improve XC skills. It includes both classroom lecture and flying together on a competition task. We utilize scoring software and Google Earth to view and analyze track logs.

Our Thermal & XC Clinic will improve your overall knowledge and skill of mountain thermal flying. During the clinic some pilots will make their first cross country flights, while others perfect their technique. We cover numerous topics, giving you the foundation and knowledge to extend your XC flights. Each day we will have classroom lecture and discussion followed by flying together on a XC flight. After flying we will discuss our flight, and view our tracks on Google Earth.

Our 1 or 2 Day Intro Course introduces you to the basics of paragliding. While emphasizing safety and fun, we will teach you how to set-up, inflate, and control the wing. On the training hill you will learn the basics of launching and landing. With good conditions, we’ll guide you through your first flights!

Intro Course fee
$200/1 day, $400/2 days

At the conclusion of the 2 Day Course, you may take the P1 rating exam. Intro course fee is applied to the Novice Pilot Training Course fee. Includes temporary USHPA membership. Rating filing fee and full USHPA membership are not included in course fee.

Vision Paragliding’s goal is to provide students with the flight skills, knowledge, and experience to be safe, confident, competent pilots.

This course, which begins where the Introductory Course ends, will teach you everything you need to fly safely, confidently and competently on your own. Extensive on-the-hill training is supplemented by comprehensive ground schooling.  Ground school topics include: aerodynamics, aviation rules, equipment, meteorology, risk assessment and risk management. Students are encouraged to set their own pace – spending as many days training as needed to become confident solo pilots. We conclude with the P2 rating exam.

The Course fee includes The Art of Paragliding and a Flight Log Book.

The Fine Print…

We will pro-rate a refund if we are unable to complete your training. There are no refunds for students who are unable to complete their training. Training is not transferable to another individual. Vision Paragliding LLC reserves the right to modify, change, or delete any aspect of the courses or fees at any time. Students are required to have their own medical insurance.
